WHS Teacher Leaders Facilitate a Kagan Cooperative to all Staff.

Wamego High School teacher leaders Shawn Hornung, Suzy Sprenkle, Deb Sylvester, Ross Conner, and Brian Oliveras facilitated a Kagan Cooperative Learning professional development for all staff. The focus was on the powerful impact of using Kagan cooperative learning strategies on student engagement to enhance high levels of learning in the high school classrooms. All staff came away with a solid understanding of why these strategies are critical in the classrooms. All of these teacher leaders have completed formal training in Kagan Structures and are working hard to build capacity in their fellow colleagues at WHS. Shawn Hornung is the onsite Kagan Coach at WHS. A Kagan Showcase (opportunity for teachers to step into these leaders' classrooms and observe the strategies being used in lessons) will happen on October 10th. Note: Kagan Cooperative Learning is a district-wide initiative and all schools are working hard to implement these cooperative learning structures in classrooms and build capacity for high levels of student engagement and learning in USD 320.
