December G.E.M. Award Recipient
Congratulations to Tanji Cassett a Para Educator at Wamego High School, Mr. Winter presented he with the G.E.M. Award this morning during class.
I would like to nominate Tanji Cassatt, who is a para at WHS. I have had the pleasure of having Ms. Tanji in several of my classes and I am constantly amazed at her patience with and empathy for students who struggle to have success. She is "assigned" to students who have IEPs, but she helps EVERYONE who needs it. She is great at identifying students who may be having difficulty and inviting them to sit with her or including them in her "circle" whether they have an IEP or not. She is extremely conscientious about getting student work back to teachers when she takes students out of the room, and she always checks to see how the students did on each assessment/assignment. It is obvious that she takes pride in her work. Our para's are all underpaid and underappreciated--it is a really hard job and takes a special person to do it well--and it takes an extra special person to do it well for a long period of time. I would love for Ms. Tanji to be recognized for all the things she does for students. She is very deserving.
