USD 320 KESA Year 2 Onsite Visit Held April 23, 2019

On Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019, USD 320 held its onsite visitation team (OVT) visit for KESA Year 2; the full day was packed with district and building administrators sharing the great work taking place in Wamego USD 320 insofar as district and school improvement.  The Wamego USD 320 OVT is headed by Dr. Sherri Martinie (KSU) with additional members, Julie Doyen from Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 and Vicky Kelly, former teacher and administrator from Lansing USD 469 and current consultant for SWPRSC. Also present for part of the day were several District Site Council members, Student Council representatives from West, WMS and WHS and two BOE members. The administrators shared with the OVT the current status of Wamego USD 320 insofar as all compliance and foundational structures (required by state and federal) as well as the USD 320 District and building KESA goals and action plans. All district and building goals will focus on the KESA goal areas of relevance and relationships for accreditation; however, responsive culture and rigor are KESA goal areas that will also be a focus as we move forward.  Also, shared with the OVT was our articulated measures of growth in the five State Board Outcomes all districts are called to attend to in KESA accreditation (kindergarten readiness, individual plans of study, social-emotional factors, high school graduation, postsecondary success and civic engagement).  The formal OVT report on Wamego USD 320 KESA Year 2 will be shared with the administrative team within a couple of weeks, including suggestions for adjustments as needed; however, the overall feedback from the OVT was very positive and affirming of the powerful efforts taking place in Wamego USD 320 to ensure Kansas’ vision for a high-quality education for our Wamego students.
